Manali Marathon 2025 – Resilience, Growth & Global Ambition

The Manali Marathon is more than a race—it’s a celebration of the spirit of Manali and its people. Born from the adversity of the 2023 floods, it has quickly grown into one of India’s most loved and internationally recognized mountain running events.

From Floods to Finish Lines

The Himalayan Xtreme Sports Association dreamed up the marathon in 2022. But in 2023, the worst floods in 50 years devastated Manali’s tourism. Instead of giving up, the community united—supported by the Kullu Administration, Tourism Department, Police, Forest Department, and locals—to launch the first Manali Marathon. The goal: show the world that Manali was back, safe, and ready for visitors.

Our Journey So Far

• 2023: 460 participants (ages 4–86) across five races, including 96 tourists and 35 international runners.
• 2024: 659 runners, 45 international athletes, and growing recognition, with the event now a two-day festival on the Mall Road.

Looking Ahead – September 20–21, 2025

The 3rd edition promises to be bigger, tougher, and even more spectacular—now with international recognition and UTMB Index points for select races.

Flagship Races

• Himalayan Xtreme: Hampta Pass Sky Traverse (36km): 4300m pass, 2 ITRA points, UTMB Index race.
• 100km Rohtang Pass Ultra Challenge: 3870m elevation, 2000m climbs/descents, UTMB Index race.
• Manali Trail X Marathon (42km): Hybrid trail-road race, 2 ITRA points.
• Other Categories: Half Marathon, 13km Manali Majestic Run, 5km Run for Manali, 1km Green Warrior Run.

Runners traverse apple orchards, pine forests, glacial streams, and towering mountains—an experience unlike any road race.
